Nevada and Vernon County is home to many wonderful things and we have a very rich heritage.

Vernon County was designated as part of the Freedom's Frontier Region in 2006 by the United States Congress. 

What is a Bushwhacker you ask? Well, this area is known by many as the Bushwhacker Capital of the World!

Did you know that we have the only college in the nation owned by women, for women? Cottey College, established in 1894, is owned by the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Did you know that Nevada has TWO Colleges? Crowder College, Nevada Campus is here helping those who are seeking higher education, as well with an incredible course catalog and a fantastic RN Program.

Did you know that the Missouri Welding Institute located in Nevada produces some of the most highly skilled industry professionals in our great nation?

Nevada and Vernon County help to export from our region, over $3.4 billion dollars annually in Agriculture-based products.

Nevada is home to Camp Clark, National Guard Military Training Base.
